This directory contains the suite of model simualtions based on MOM4p0d (GFDL Modular Ocean Model v.4, Griffies et al., 2005) described in Dietze & Kriest (2012), 137-Cs off Fukushima Dai-ichi, Japan - model based estimates of dilution and fate, Ocean Sci., 8, 319-332, 2012, doi:10.5194/os-8-319-2012. Note that D & K (2012) is available here; named Dietze_Kriest_2012.pdf In a nut-shell: D & K (2012) present results from an ocean circulation model driven with ECMWF forcing resembling the period 1993 to 1999. By comparing sea surface height patterns observed from space in April 2011 with those simulated, D & K (2012) conclude that the simulated conditions in 1993 and 1996 are similar to those observed in April 2011, while the nominal years 1994 1995 and 1997 are not. In all simulations a total of 2.3x10^15 Bq 137-Cs is released at once into one grid-box off Fukushima. The directory model contains all that is needed to repeat the experiments, i.e., forcing, code, compile scripts, executables and restarts.
