In this directory one can find the alpha-files to run an ocean-only model with the re-energization effect to atmospheric winds.

Please carefully read the paper and do not hesitate to ask questions. 

To include this effect your model code need to be updated.

1) Interpolate the alpha-file of your choice to the grid you need

2) Adapt the model code, to read in this file

3) Define a 3-d variable alpha and modify the surface stress calculation to:

tau = rho_a * C_D * (U - alpha *u) |U - alpha *u|

 



The two files in this directory are basically two realisations of this effect. You can chose which you prefer. But generally the N512O025
is based on a 1/4deg ocean model, the N512O12 based on a 1/12deg ocean model. Both files are climatological values with monthly resolution.
