1) Climatological seasonal cycle derived from surface observations at station BY5 (55.15N, 15.59E) in the Baltic Sea based on data kindly provided by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI). All available observations from the years 1962 – 2009 weren binned into daily bins. Data in daily bins were averaged. The following files are available: - "BY5_no3_seas.dat" contains 365 entries for nitrate [in mmol N/m^3]. The first entry corresponds to 1.Jan. - "BY5_phyt_seas.dat" contains 365 entries for phytoplankton [in mmol N/m^3]. Phytoplankton concentrations were dervied from chlorophyll_a measurements by using a use a constant chlorophyll_a to nitrate ratio of 1.59gChla/mmol N. 2) Noise time-series to disrupt the genuine truth. The following files are available: - "noise_N.dat" contains the noise time-series used to disrupt the genuine truth for nitrate. - "noise_P.dat" contains the noise time-series used to disrupt the genuine truth for phytoplankton. - "noise_Z.dat" contains the noise time-series used to disrupt the genuine truth for zooplankton. - "noise_D.dat" contains the noise time-series used to disrupt the genuine truth for detritus.
